Each week, Women In Music gives 400+ public radio stations access to music by some of the best female musicians around. Produced in Boston, we distribute via satellite and the Internet to an international audience. In just 5 years, we've gone from a handful of affiliates to reaching 80+ markets. Online, we receive an average of more than 5,000 visitors to our website each month.
Our eclectic mix features cutting-edge work by seasoned female performers from around the world who have been honing their craft for years, even decades -- plus, performance debuts by women not otherwise heard. From Morocco to Italy, from Canada to California, listeners contact us with information on their favorite artists -- artists we’ve never heard of -- and some of the best of them find their way into the show. Up-and-coming musicians get involved, too, in search of elusive airplay. One fine musician, who has yet to be signed to a label, "burned" her very first CD just for Women In Music. |
